Anderson. In the fierce assault at Perryville General Brown was wounded and Colonel Miller took command of the brigade. The regiment lost heavily in this battle, and before the next great conflict it was consolidated with the Third. It was attached to Preston's brigade, then to Stovall's, and finally to Finley's brigade. The Third regiment Florida infantry was organized in August, 1861, and was assigned to service in the State until May, 1862, when it was ordered to the army in northern Mississippi. Many of the companies had reenlisted for the war and an election was had of officers to serve permanently, at Midway, Gadsden county, where they were in camp about three weeks.
