Nomination. --Ex-Gov. Francis Thomas, of Allegany county, Md., was nominated by a convention in Frederick city, on Saturday last, as a Union candidate for Congress, on the fifteenth ballot, by a majority of one. The Frederick Herald, in speaking of Mr. Thomas, observes: "He has been a Black Republican for fifteen years, and he is now a coercionist of the most bloody and relentless character — aye, as uncompromising and narrow-hearted in his hostility to the South as Wendell Phillips -Gov.
