[correspondence of the Richmond Dispatch.]a City of refuge — high Prices, &c. Danville. Va., April 22, 1862. The present appearance of Danville reminds one very friendly of the cities of refuge spoken of in the Old Testament Scriptures. From of the frontier and seacoast of this State refugees are flocking to this point. Already the hotels and private boarding-houses are crowded. Not having anticipated such an accession to their population, the resident citizens had not laid in such a supply of provisions as would be sufficient in order that all may have enough. Thus eatables sell very high, and the prices have an upward tendency. But the country around is rich and fertile, and tobacco, which thus far has answered all purposes with the farmers, will give place to corn pork, peas, potatoes, and other articles more easily digested than the weed.

The Varicoses. --Mr. Walter Keevel, a sterling actor, is at present filling an engagement at the Varieties. The house is nightly crowded, and the audiences, by their hearty applause, seem to appreciate the efforts of the "Southern Star," backed by the stock company. We are happy to state that good order prevails, and the only fault we have to find is, that the building is not large enough to accommodate all who would wish to be present. The fine play of "Ingomar" to night.
