There was an nows of speculation, received from the army near Fredericksburg yesterday.
It was rumored in camp that the Federal army had returned to Alexandria, with a view to take up winter quarters at that point.
The Central train brought down from Staunton, last evening twenty four Yankee prisoners, whose capture by Capt. McNeill, is Hardy county, we have here Store noticed.
Among the party was the Pierpont sheriff of Barbour county, who we liars, has been very active in carrying out the honest of his Yankee masters in that county, and in collecting revenue from the people to support the hireling of Lincoln in their crusade upon the loyal citizens of the Northwest.

Specie and Bank Notes--Since our last report specie has declined.
The brokens are now offering only [email protected] for gold and selling at $2 @1.05.
For silver they are offering $1.50 and seizing $1.50. The amount of coin offering is increasing and a further decline in anticipated.
This decline fiscals fly owing to the increased amount of Stalling Exchange in the market, which the brokers are selling at $8.12 ½ prem.
Fartios who here remitted and sold Confederates, bonds abroad at a comparatively small discount, can afford to and rabid the speciate rates, and while this competition excels the premium for specie will be liable to further decline.
Virginia and North Carolina bank notes are firm at last quotations.
Bonds and Stocks.--The demand for Confederate bonds (100 mts) is improving whilst the disposition to invest in State Stocks seems to be less active.
From recent sales we quote Confederate bonds at par and int — brokers, offering 99½
