Roe, Francis Asbury 1823-

Naval officer; born in Elmira, N. Y., Oct. 4, 1823; appointed midshipman in 1841; served through the Civil War, taking part in the battle on the Mississippi below New Orleans; promoted rear-admiral in 1884; retired Oct. 4, 1885.
