Amusing.

The Herald gravely announces the negotiation of a loan by the Yankee Treasury, with some Dutch merchants, of $70,000,000. We wonder whether it really thought it could deceive anybody. We have not seen any person who did not laugh at it as the best joke of the day. Why, Yankee Doodle could not borrow a cent in Europe three years ago, before his credit had been impugned. He is in a pretty condition to do it now, to be sure.
