Accomplishment Report

Narrative

With influx of enrolment, this school year 2017- 2018 for both
Elementary and Secondary nationwide the Department of Education (DepEd)
is set to have an annual Brigada Eskwela from May 15 to May 20, 2017.
Formally the National Schools Maintenance Week, the theme for this
year’s Brigada Eskwela is “Isang DepEd, Isang Pamayanan, Isang Bayanihan
para sa Handa at Ligtas na Paaralan”.
During this week school administrators, teachers, pupils and their
parents, alumni, religious group and volunteers from the Barangay
community work together to improve the school facilities. Their activities
include repainting of classrooms, stairs, hallways, and other parts of the
school building, thorough cleaning, repairing damage chairs, desks, tables
etc. among others.
Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones and other DepEd officials
will lead the Brigada Eskwela National Kick Off Program and Caravan last
May 15 in Cebu City.
Brigada Eskwela consist of activities that truly exhibits the spirit of
shared community responsibility in providing quality basic education for all
Filipino learners.School heads will take the lead in planning the said activities
which include mosquito misting, repair and maintenance, promote the clean
and green of Pasig City government advocacy.
Private organizations are also expected to make donations during this
period. It was stated in 2003, Brigada Eskwela has three main objectives.
a. to utilize resources to public schools.
b. to bring the spirit of teamwork to community.
c. to practice shared governance.

The conduct of Brigada Eskwela is mandated by the Adopt – A – School Act


of 1998. The law invite private institution / entities to help school of their
choice in the area of staff and faculty development for training and further
education construction of facilities; upgrading of existing facilities, provisions
of books, publication and other instructional materials and modernization of
technologies.
Interested parties may directly contact the school where they want to
volunteer for details on how they can help.
In addition, school heads initiated the Brigada Eskwela program not
just a tool to improve school facilities but to step up community stakeholders
contribution in the continuous and shared responsibility of providing quality
basic education.
Even the week-long activities of Brigada Eskwela is over we continued
to finish the repainting and repairing through the efforts of some generous
persons in the Hall of Justice through paroled prisoners from the Bureau of
Jail Management and Penology (BJMP). It was a big turned out to our school
where in they worked together with Bayanihan spirit lived on.
