build to activate new people, support school based organizing, and build our
power as a united caucus?

Saturday, August 18

-Analysis 10am-12pm:
• Political grounding - What is the state of politics in the US, NYS, and
NYC that will inform our vision and strategy? (1 hr) Facilitator: Rosy
• Emerging political, economic, and social forces that could
make our work easier
• Emerging political, economic, and social forces that could
make our work more difficult
• State of the AFT/UFT (1 hr) - Implications of Janus, red-state strikes,
progressive leaderships in Chicago, LA, St. Paul, others, UCORE network
with active caucuses in Philly, Baltimore, NC, etc. Facilitator: Kevin
• Lunch 12pm-1pm
• Vision and Mission 1pm-3pm
• Points of Political Unity What are MORE’s political points of unity?
What is our vision for the caucus and for the UFT?
• Which points of unity are most likely to draw in potential MORE
recruits?
• Role of a caucus in our union how do we imagine our caucus moving
the union/acting within the union structure as a whole? What should our
approach to the Unity leadership be?
• 15 minute break
• 2018/2019 Tasks and Priorities 3:15pm-5:00pm How should we approach the
following issues in the 2018/2019 school year? (may make most sense to break
the discussion up into parts) Facilitator: Mike S
