Content Standard: The learner will be able to understand and appreciate literary texts in various genres across
national literature and cultures.
Performance Standard: The learner will be able to differentiate/compare and contrasts the various 21 st century
literary genres and the ones from the earlier genres/periods citing their elements, structures, and traditions
Learning Competency: The learners will be able to identify representative texts and authors from each region
(e.g. engage in oral history research with focus on key personalities from the student’s region/province/town)

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Identify representative texts and authors from each region; and
B. Value the contributions of development of regional literary traditions.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
Topic: Philippine Literature: Literature From Luzon
Reference: CG, 21st Century Literature From The Philippines and The World Textbook
Materials: Laptop and Mobile phone

B. ACTIVITY
The teacher will instruct the whole class to think of one strongest typhoon that hit the country,
and share their thoughts on how Filipino address, respond, and overcome that challenges.

C. ANALYSIS
The teacher will ask the following questions:
1. Did you enjoy in our activity?
2. What have you observe in our activity?
3. What do you think is our lesson for today?

D. ABSTRACTION
The teacher will discuss the background of the Author and Setting the Context of the Literature
from Luzon
E. APPLICATION
The teacher will let the students read the poem “The Same Old Figurative” by: Joel M. Toledo.

F. ASSESSMENT
Understanding the Text: Read the question carefully and write your answer in space provided.
1. What message does the poem convey about the present condition of human life?
2. What is the symbol of the rain in the poem? What allusion does the rain present?
3. What is the author’s invitation at the end of the poem? Why did he make such an invitation?
4. What do you think is the “same old figurative” in the poem and in real life?

G. ASSIGNMENT/AGREEMENT
Part I: Do a research about one persistent problem that the people are dealing with. List down at
least three (3) causes of this problem.
Part II: Upon exploring one problem that the Filipino nation is dealing with, create a poster and
slogan advocating solutions to help address, respond, and overcome this problem.
