SCOPE

This Standard provides the minimum requirements for materials, surface


preparation, application methods and inspectionltesting for maintenance painting
of previously painted metallic, above ground, oillgaslwater facilities and related
utilities.

This Standard covers the maintenance painting procedures of previously painted


steel (e.g., spot repair and complete repainting) for both onshore and offshore
facilities.

GENERAL

The materials and equipment for surface preparation, paintlcoating application


and inspectionltesting, shall conform to the requirements of this standard, except
as modified or supplemented by project specification or material or equipment
data sheet.

This standard is not applicable to buried pipelines, sub-sea pipelines, paints for
non-metallic building services (e.g., concrete, masonry, wood, etc.).

TERMINOLOGY

Definitions

Atmospheric Zone

The part of an offshore structure above the splash zone.

Blistering

The disruption of the paintlcoating film in the form of series of blisters due to
lack of adhesion which may subsequently rupture t o admit moisture and
corrosive agent into the film leading to corrosion.

Chalking

~egradationof the paint binder, usually on exposure to ultraviolet light , to


gradually release pigment particles leading t o soft and powdery paint surface.

checking

Is an age-related failure of coating system characterized by uneven and generally


non-linear, non-continuous breaks in the coating which do not penetrate to the
substrate.

Coat

A continuous layer of a coating material that results from a single application.


Discontinuity (Holiday)

A void, crack, pinhole, thin spot, foreign inclusion or contamination in the


coating film that significantly lowers the dielectric strength of the coating.

Dry Film Thickness

The dry film thickness of paint is measured by film thickness gauge and
expressed in microns (1000 microns = 40 mils).

Erosion (paint)

Is a type of paint failure caused by wearing away ,due to mechanical action ,of
the coating down to the base surface or to the primer.

flame Cleaning

The short time application of a reducing oxygenlfuel gas flame to structural steel,
followed by power toollhand tool (wire brushing) cleaning.

The elapsed time within which a coating can be effectively applied after all
components of coating system have been thoroughly mixed.

Rust grade (degree of rusting)

Classification describing the degree of rust formation on a steel surface prior to


cleaning.

Splash Zone

The zone of the structure that is alternately in and out of the water because of
the influence of the astronomical tides and winds in the sea.

Wet Blasting

Is a method of blast cleaning that uses a slurry of water and abrasive, as


blasting media, rather than abrasive alone.

REFERENCE CODES AND STANDARDS

In the event of conflict between this standard and the standardslcodes


referenced herein, the most stringent requirement shall apply, unless otherwise
specified.

Any exceptions or deviations from this Standard, along with their merits &
justification, shall be brought t o the attention of KOC's Controlling Department
for their review, consideration and amendment by Standards Division (if
required).

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION

The environment of Kuwait, i s severe on all plant and equipment and must be
considered carefully before selectionlapproval of paints and coating materials. It
must be assumed that, unless otherwise specified, equipment or facility may be
subjected t o sand and fine particle dust storms, salt laden winds, airborne'
corrosive chemical (e.g, hydrogen sulphide) contaminants and extreme
temperatures.

KOC Standard for basic design data, KOC-G-007, provides the detailed design
information regarding the environmental, site, and utility supply conditions
prevailing throughout the KOC facilities.

HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT

Health, safety and environment (HSE) requirements shall be as for KOC-P-001


except as added below:

Safety Precautions in Running Plants

Special health and safety precautions shall be employed when surface cleaning
or maintenance painting is applied on existing equipment or structure in the
running plants.

An appropriate work permit shall be obtained by the contractor, form the KOC's
concerned departmentb), for work in area concerned and no maintenance
painting work shall commence until such permits are issued.

Where there is a risk of flammable atmosphere or possible damage t o


surrounding instruments, equipment, etc., KOC may impose restrictions on
methods of surface preparation. Flame heating equipment shall not be used in
hazardous areas described in KOC Hazardous Area Classification (HAC)
'

drawings.

Previously Applied Lead-based Paint Systems

Specific and necessary safety measures shall be employed when preparing


surfaces previously primed with lead pigmented coatings (old painted equipment
and structures). This is t o protect personnel and surrounding environment.
Surface preparation debrislspillage shall adequately be contained and disposed
to areas specified by KOC.

The procedures. for protecting personnel and environment from lead


contamination shall be in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1025.

PAINTSICOATING MATERIALS

General

All paints and coating materials shall be chemically pure, and free from foreign
contaminants, lead pigments, chromates and asbestos fillers. The age of coating
materials components shall not exceed the pot-life limited by the manufacturers.

All paints and coating materials shall be delivered t o the site in original sealed
manufacturer's containers with batchlcode numbers and date of manufacture
clearly marked thereon.

Approvals

All paints and coating materials, including thinners and equipment cleaners, in
any one system shall originate from one manufacturer. The use of different brand
in one coating system shall subject to KOC's approval.

The selected composition of paintinglcoating materials shall comply with coating


systems table of Appendix 1. The KOC approved schemes are only those used
in the painting schedules A-E (Appendix 3).The use of alternative scheme andlor
compositions shall be approved in writing by KOC.

The contractor's submittal for paintinglcoating materials shall include details of


generalized composition and technical specifications of the products to be used
for KOC's review and approval.

All paints or coating systems proposed by the contractor for spot or top coat
maintenance painting shall be fully compatible with the existing paint.

SURFACE PREPARATlON

Surface preparation shall be in accordance with the requirements established by


this standard. The requirements for weatherlwork conditions and dry abrasive
blasting cleaning shall be in accordance with clauses 8.2 and 8.5 of KOC-P-3i3I .
Any area not specifically covered, shall be in accordance with the principles and
guidelines set forth in the SSPC Manual.

Surface Conditions

The surface conditions of the previously painted steel substrate shall be


thoroughly examined prior to commencement of any surface preparation work.
Both visual and physical inspection are necessary to specify the type of
conditions and damages so as t o decide the required surface preparation and
type of maintenance painting to be applied.( see clause 10.2)

All areas of loosened paint, rust formation and any other paint defects shall be
carefully noted so that work can be concentrated on such areas. If such areas
cannot be exacdy defined or if the breakdown in the existing paint system
exceeds 15% of the total surface. over all preparation shall be carried out.

Rotedon o f Adjacent Surfaces and Equipment

Suitable screening shall be applied t o protect all adjacent surfaces before spot
blasting takes place. In some cases, pvc masking tape will be suitable for
protection. The contractor is responsible for any damage caused t o the
surrounding paint work, instrumentation etc.

Surface Reparation o f PaintedICoated Carbon Steel

Prior to any further coating of the existing paint work, oil, grease and any other
contaminates shall be removed by washing with approved emulsifiable degreaser
or solvent in accordance with SSPC-SP1 and be rinsed with clean fresh water.
Bolt holes, lap joints, etc shall be cleaned prior to blast cleaning.

All loosened paint work shall be removed t o a firm edge. Paint surface
irregularities such as grit or dirt inclusion and paint failures e.g., cracks, chalking
and blistering shall be removed by scraping or chipping, as appropriate (power
tool cleaning when necessary). SSPC Manual Vol. 1 Ch. 2 3 summarises the
description and causes of all paintlcoating failures.

All rustedlcorroded areas shall be prepared by grit blast or handlpower tool


cleaning t o the required visual standard indicated in the painting schedules or as
recommended by paint manufacturer.

The prepared surface shall be water flushed to remove any soluble salt products,
if their presence is confirmed by Potassium Ferrocyanide paper test. ( see para.
10.4.3)

All surface imperfections or irregularities that appear after maintenance works


shall be removed completely ( made flush or smooth) prior to blast cleaning.
Deep corrosion pits, crevices and any other observed defects shall be referred to
KOC for disposition.

Where prepared surfaces are taken up to an existing painted surface, the paint
in the joint area shall be carefully feathered out. A t the discretion of KOC, hard
glossy surfaces (e.g two-pack polyurethanes and epoxies) may require abrading
with wet and dry abrasive paper or very light blasting to roughen the surface.

The removal of old paint or rust scale by using flame heating or paint strippers
can be used sometimes for small surfaces in non hazardous areas. This shall be
subjected t o written approval of KOC.

Preparation of Painted Galvanised Steel Surfaces

Galvanised surfaces having loosened paint and areas of rustlcorrosion scale shall

be prepared by hand scraping t o a firm .edge and be steel wire brushed


(handlpower) and/or sweep blasted t o remove all corrosion products, deposits
and surface contaminants.

The prepared surfaces shall be cleaned by wiping with rags or brushes wetted
with detergents and finally wiped down with clean dry clothes.

Preparation of Stainless Steels

Stainless steels are subjected t o pitting corrosion in environments containing


chloride or sulphide species. Stainless steels shall not be painted except where
specified b y KOC. The surface preparation method shall be as per the following:

Any observed pitting or other significant attack on stainless steel process


equipment shall be referred t o KOC for investigation and disposition.

Steel surfaces shall be thoroughly degreased using solvent cleaning or


suitable emulsifying agent and washed with fresh water t o remove any
contamination.

Surfaces shall be light blast cleaned to remove any rust stains and t o
achieve a surface profile of 25-50 micron. The abrasive used shall be a
chloride free type such as aluminium-oxidelaluminium silicate grit. Hand
or power tools cleaners using P60 grade paper may be used for surface
preparation, when grit blast cleaning is impractical.

Steel surfaces shall be protected from contamination by debris produced


during grit blasting of adjacent carbon steel because embedded particles
could promote corrosion. Any observed contamination should be referred
to KOC for disposition.

BlastlPower tool cleaning equipment used for carbon steel shall not be
subsequently used on stainless steel.

Painted stainless steels having loosened paint shall be prepared by hand scraping
t o affirm edge and be steel wire brushed to remove all deposits rust s*ains and
surface contaminants. The prepared surface shall be cleaned by wipiiij *vith
rages wetted with chloride free detergent and finally dried with clean cio-r;lT-~

PowerIHand Tool Cleaning

Powerlhand tool cleaning is recommended for preparing heavily rusted surfaces


and for spot repair maintenance painting using surface tolerant coating systems.

Powerlhand tool cleaning shall be in accordance with SSPC-SP1ISP2 and to the


visual standard mentioned in the painting schedules of Appendix 2.

Where power tool cleaning is carried out, the entire surface shall be covered
using abrasive or wire type power tool disks. Other types of power tools (impact)
shall be used for those locations which can not accommodate power disk.

Wet Blast Cleaning

This method of surface preparation shall only be used for cleaning installations
where dry blasting and power tool cleaning are not permitted e.g well heads
where risks of sparking are exist. In addition, wet blast cleaning shall be used for
the following purposes:

(a) To prepare surfaces which are salt contaminated and spend much of their
time in wet conditions.

(b) To remove loosened paint, corrosion products, scaling and selectively


remove individual damaged top coats from intact undercoats.

When wet blast cleaning is used the following requirements shall be achieved:

(a) KOC approval.

(b) Visual standard and surface profile similar to that achieved by dry blast
cleaning.

(c) Using clear (non-contaminated) potable water only as blast media.

The wet blast cleaning shall be conducted in accordance with NACE RP-01-72
The equipment used shall allow individual control of air, pressure, water and grit.
The contractor may be required to use a corrosion inhibitor to prevent flash
rusting. This shall be in accordance to paint manufacturer's recommendations.

High pressure water cleaning

This method covers all water jetting equipment operating at pressures of up to


300 bar and it may be used for preparing areas of intact coating which have
chalked, and only require additional coat(s) t o maintain protection of the
substrate and improve their appearance.

Although a new surface profile is not obtained by this method but it can be used
f i r removing old paints ,deposits, corrosion products with high performance and
well suited for new paint types such as surface tolerant high solid epoxy mastic.

PAINTICOATING APPLICATION

General Requirements

Maintenance painting works shall be in accordance with the requirements of this


standard and the recommendations of the paint manufacturer. The requirements
for weatherlwork conditions and paint mixinglthinning shall be in accordance
with clauses 9.3 and 9.4 of KOC-P-001. Any area not specifically covered, shall
be in accordance with SSPC Manual Vol. 2

The contractor shall provide all materials, tools, equipment and experienced
personnel required for carrying out the work.

The contractor shall supply and erect all necessary, ladders, scaffolding and
staging required for carrying out the work. The scaffold in steel shall be either
Independent Tied Scaffold or Mobile Access Tower in accordance with BS 5973.
Suspended scaffold and cradle conforming t o BS 5974 may be used.

Precautions shall be taken to prevent painting from being applied to name plates,
couplings, shafts, valve stems, vent openings, gauge glasses, pressure gauges,
flame passage (gap), light fittings, cables etc. Masking tape, plastic film or any
other suitable material shall be used, and all shall be removed after painting
completion and acceptance.

Extreme care should be taken when applying by spray, in close proximity (less
than one meter) t o a gaslfirelsmoke detector, a paint that contains a highly
volatile solventithinner.

PaintKoating Selection

The selection of maintenance paintinglcoating systems for particular applications


(e.g., spot repair or complete repaint) shall be as given in the approved schedules
A, 0, C, D, and E (Appendix 3) and specified in Appendix 1. The use of other
systems shall be subjected to conformance with clause 9.3 and KOC approval.

Compatibility of Paint System

All maintenance painting systems t o be used shall be compatible with the


existing paint system. It shall be the responsibility of the contractor to confirm
this compatibility with the paint manufacturer.

If the composition of the existing paint system is unknown, a spot test should
be made to determine the compatibility of the new system with the existing one.
(see clause 10.4.3)

Paint Application Practice

It is preferred that all painticoating systems should be applied by airless spray


method. When operational reasons do not allow for airless spray method
application, brush application shall be used. Application by roller shall be
subjected to KOC's approval. Clauses 9.5.1, 9.5.2 and 9.5.3 of KOC-P-001
describe the requirements of these methods.

Paint application shall be in a uniform manner and to the prescribed number of


coats and dry film thickness (DFT) quoted in the painting schedules without any

runs, sags, marksor other blemishes. The paint applied to sharp edges etc., shall
also be of the prescribed DFT. Finished application shall be uniform in colour,
texture and appearance.

Time intervals between coats shall be kept t o the minimum recommended by


paint manufacturer, this is t o prevent contamination between coats. If
contamination does occur, it shall be removed by washing with suitable
detergent solution and rinsing with clean fresh water.

Where a multi-coat paint system is specified to be used, all intermediate coats


shall be of contrasting colour t o differentiate between coats.

A minimum of 10 cm around edges of abrasive blasting shall be left uncoated


unless adjoining a recently prepared and other coated surface.

Crevices created by t w o surfaces in close contact which cannot be protected by


painting should be mastic sealed on both sides.

Priming

The prepared surfaces (handlpower tool cleaned or abrasive blasted) shall be dry
and dustlcontaminants free before any primer application. The surface finish, of
all areas to be primed, shall exist at the time of application. If required, surfaces
shall be prepared to the specified finish again.

All surfaces, t o receive maintenance painting, shall be primed using the


specified primer (as mentioned in the painting schedules), before the deterioration
of the preparation occurs or within 4 hours, whichever is the sooner. A t the
discretion of KOC, the times between the start of surface preparation and
priming can be altered.

Where spot priming is applied, this shall extend 5 cm on the adjacent prepared
sound paint work.

Repainting Procedures

Appendix 2 shows four procedures used in maintenance painting. The adoption


of any of these procedures for repainting steel structurelequipment, shall be
based on the results of previous surveys and .visuallphysical inspection of the
existing paint system (see clause 10.2). and shall be subjected to KOC's
approval.

Painting Schedules

The maintenance painting schemes and required minimum DFT shall be as


specified in schedules A to E of Appendix 3. Where existing paint surfaces are
over-coated, the required additional film thickness shall be at the discretion of
KOC.
Stripe Coating -

Stripe coating by brush shall be carried out on all welds, seams, corners and
edges and shall be in addition t o the requirements of the schedules.

Colours

The standard finishing colours to be used shall match the existing scheme unless
otherwise specified. The finishing colours and colour coding for KOC's equipment
and facilities are specified in KOC-P-001 Appendix 2.

Colours for intermediate coats shall refer t o the paint manufacturers


recommendations.

All colour banding and identifying markings shall be restored.

General Requirements

lnspection and testing at all stages of surface preparation and painting


application works shall be performed by the contractor.

The contractor's work (surface preparation and paint application) may be


subjected to inspection and approval at any stage by KOC.

The contractor shall provide all necessary inspection and testing equipmentltools
and perform such inspections as are necessary to assure that the painting
complies with the requirements of this standard. The contractor shall have
available calibration certificates for all instruments for inspection by KOC.

KOC inspector shall have the right to inspect at all times any materials, tools or
equipment used in the performance of surface preparation, paint application and
inspectionltesting to ensure compliance with the requirements of this standard.

Previously Painted Surface Inspection and Testing

As a part of general structural inspection of KOC's installations and equipment,


visual & physical inspection of the existing coating system shall be carried x t
to specify the coating composition (specially for old painted equipment), surface
conditions and the type of damages or breakdown in the coating system before
any repainting is to be done. This will also assist in defining the following
parameters.

- The extent of coating system failure


- The appropriate method and standard of surface preparation.
- The required repainting procedure.
- The type and thickness of repainting system.
A procedure for inspection and testing of the existing paintlcoating system shall
be prepared b y the contractor for KOC's review and approval. The following
clauses explain the inspection and testing methods t o be used.

Visual Inspection

The existing paint system shall be inspected visually t o identify and record the
paint condition parameters (e.g., loss of topcoat, cracking, rust staining) and
corrosion parameters ( e.g., rusting, blistering, scaling). These parameters shall
be evaluated and rated. The rating and evaluation for various surface conditions
shall be as follows:

(a) Critical evaluation of the degree of rusting shall be in accordance with BS


3900 H3 or ASTM D6lO.

(b) Evaluation of the degree of chalking of the exterior paint film shall be
in accordance with ASTM D4214.

(c) Evaluation of the degree of blistering of paints shall be in accordance with


ASTM 0714.

(d) Evaluation of the degree of erosion of exterior paints shall be in


accordance with ASTM D662.

Any other observed paint surface condition should be referred to KOC for
evaluation and rating.

Physical InspectionKesting

Physical inspection shall be carried out along with visual inspection in order to
assign numerical values for the visual rating and define other paint film condition
parameters like paint adhesion, thickness, brittleness, or under-film corrosion.
The most important parameters to measure for numerical rating are the paint film
thickness and the adhesion. The measurement shall be as follows:

(a) The film thickness of the existing paint should be measured in a number

be done in accordance with SSPC-PA2 or ASTM D l 186.

(b) The adhesion test of the existing paint film shall be carried out in
accordance with the ASTM methods D3359 or 04541. The adhesion
rating shall be taken at various locations, on the existing paint, to obtain
average.

Environmental Conditions Testing

Prior t o any blast cleaning and paint application work commencement,


environmental conditions ( e.g. , ambient temperature, relative humidity
etc.) shall be checked for compliance with paras. 8.2.1 and 9.4.1 of KOC-P-001.

Materials and Eqliipment InspectionTTesting

Abrasive material and equipment for blast cleaning and paint application shall be
inspected t o ensure compliance with clauses 6.3,8.5 and 9.5 of KOC-P-001 and
paintlcoating manufacturer's recommendations. Nozzle sizes and pressures of
blast cleaning equipment shall be monitored.

Paint and coating materials shall be checked to ensure compliance with the
requirements of the specified painting systemslschedules (see Appendix 1).

Compatibility - Spot Test


A spot test of compatibility of the new paint system shall be done if composition
of the existing paint system is unknown. This shall be done as per the following:

(a) The surface shall be spot prepared in accordance to the required surface
cleaning recommended by the paint manufacturer's technical data sheet.

(b) The proposed painting system shall be applied on the prepared surface
and t o the prescribed film thickness.

(c) After curing, the applied paint system shall be observed for adhesion,
lifting, curling, bleeding, or other evidence of incompatibility.

All inspection and testing instruments shall be pre-start checked and calibrated
for the required test prior t o testing commencement.

Prepared Surface Inspedon and Testing

Prepared surfaces shall be visually inspected to ensure the absence of all types
of imperfections, oillgrease, dust, rust and other contaminants and for the
conformance with the specified visual standard mentioned in the painting
schedules. For complete maintenance painting the surface shall be checked for
the absence of old paintlcoating in addition to the above mentioned.

When surface profile of the prepared surface is required (for complete repainting)
a spot check shall be done to ensure the compliance with the required profile
height. The testing shall be in accordance with ASTM 04417 or NACE RP0287.

When requested by.KOC, a Potassium Ferrocyanide paper test shall be cz;::sd


out t o confirm the absence of contamination of the prepared steel surfaces by .
soluble iron salts. This field test shall be done in accordance with BS 5493
Appendix G.

Maintenance Painted Surface

Visual Inspection

(a) All maintenance painted surfaces shall be visually inspected to ensure the

absence of skips, pinholes, over spray, sags, foreign particles contamination


air pockets, drips, holidays, soft areas and any other paint defects.

(b) The painted surfaces shall be checked for absence of variations in film
thickness (thick or thin areas), especially when spot maintenance painting
is applied.

(c) The painted surface shall be checked for colour matching with the existing
paint system and the conformance with KOC colour coding. (see KOC -P-
001, Appendix 2)

10.6.2 Curing o f Zinc Silicate Primers

Zinc silicate primer coat shall be tested for adequate curing before over coating.
A solvent test, as recommended by the manufacturer, shall be carried out.

10.6.3 Paint Film Thickness

(a) On application of each coat, the wet film thickness (WFT) shall be checked
at random. The measurement shall be in accordance with ASTM D1212.

(b) The dry film thickness (DFT) of each coat and of the final dry finished coat
shall be measured at random. The measurement shall be in accordance with
ASTM D l 186 or SSPC-PA2.

(c) The minimum DFT, measured, of the final finish coat shall be as specified
in the painting schedules (A-E) of Appendix 3.

10.6.4 Paint Adhesion Test

When requested by KOC, a spot adhesion test shall be carried out using an
approved adhesion tester. The paint adhesion recorded must be at least equal t o
the specified adhesion by the paint manufacturer for the type of paint and/or
system. The paint adhesion testing shall be in accordance with ASTM D3359 or
ASTM D4541.

10.6.5 Porosity Check

For special coatings where pinholes cannot be allowed a full scan holiday test
shall be done using suitable equipment for each type of coating as high voltage
can cause damage to coatings. Any porous area shall be marked and repaired in
accordance with this Standard. The acceptable level of pinholes shall be
subjected t o KOC and contractor agreement. Holiday detection test procedure
shall be carried out in accordance with NACE RP 0188.

1 10.6.6 Repair of Damage t o Paint work

All observed damageldefects to paint work during or after application, shall be


repaired to satisfy the requirements of this Standard. The defected area shall be
prepared t o the original standard, spot primed, undercoated and finished using
same or compatible material with the existing coating system. Spot priming shall
extend 5 cm on t o the sound paint work.
QUALITY ASSURANCE

The paint manufacturer and the painting contractor shall operate quality system
t o ensure that the requirements of this Standard are achieved. The quality
system shall preferably be based on I S 0 9000 series of standards and the
manufacturer and contractor shall demonstrate compliance by providing a copy
of the accredited certificate or the manufacturer's/contractor's quality manual.
Verification of a manufacturer'slcontractor's quality system is normally part of
the pre-qualification procedure, and is therefore not detailed in the core text of
this Standard.

DOCUMENTATION

General

All correspondence, instructions, data sheets, paint coverage calculations, or any


other information shall be in English language.

All units of measurement, physical constants, etc. shall be in SI units, unless


otherwise specified.

Work Proposal

The contractor shall submit his proposal for all aspects of work, for the approval
of KOC prior t o work commencement. This will include the following:

(a) Maintenance painting plans, programmes, procedures and existing paint


condition assessment survey.

(b) Information on work ___location, materials selection, equipments to be used,


items to be coated, surface preparation, paint application, painting schedule
t o be used, etc.

(c) Manufacturer's technical and safety data sheets, material analysis


certificates and material test approvals shall be provided for each paint
product.

(d) Evaluation of all hazards and provision of proposals t o meet HSE


requirements (see clause 6.0).

(e) lnspectionltesting plan, procedures and equipment.

(f) Specific repair proposal t o satisfy the requirements of clause 9.9 for
damageldefects repair.

Work RecordsIReports

The contractor shall operate a comprehensive recordinglreporting system on all

aspects of the painting work including inspectionltesting work. The data shah be
set out on painting work data sheet within 24 hours of carrying out a specific
work. Appendix 4 shows a sample of this data sheet.

Final Report

A report shall be submitted on completion of the painting works. The final report
shall include a summary on all aspects covered e.g., surface preparation, painting
systems used and inspection and testing records.

MAINTENANCE PAINTINGiCOATING SCHEDULES

The painting schedules (A-E) are attached t o this standard in Appendix 3. The
requirements for surface preparation and paintinglcoating systems are listed for
categories of existing structures, equipment and services.

For a particular maintenance job or contract, the applicable schedule together


with the relative general part of this standard may be extracted and utilized as
governing documents.
