Indian Railways Management Information System

Indian Railways faced problems of increasing passenger volume, rising costs, and poor customer service. To address these issues, it implemented several IT solutions including the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) allowing online booking, Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) for flexible ticketing, and Freight Operating Information System (FOIS) for freight tracking. These solutions provide benefits such as transparency, reduced wait times, and increased efficiency for customers as well as increased revenue, optimal resource use, and reduced losses for Indian Railways.
