Building Services & Integration-1: Kohinoor

Kohinoor Hospital in Mumbai achieved LEED Platinum certification for its green building design and energy efficiency methods. More than 30% energy is saved through high performance glass, solar panels generating 84% of hot water, efficient lighting and ventilation design. The hospital also saves over 40% of water through sensors and low-flow fixtures. Indoor air quality is managed through demand controlled ventilation, heat recovery systems, and MERV 13 filters with CO2 sensors.

More than 30% energy is achieved by
a)   High performance reflective glass to ensure that solar heat does not enter the building whilst ensuring that it is well lit by
daylight.
b)   Use of solar panels heating water on the roof which generates 84% of hot water.
c)   The lighting design and light fixtures proposed by the Architects which ensure that less than 0.54 W per Sq.ft. Light Power
Density is
achieved. The uses of low wattage CFL's and LED add to the energy savings.
d)   An atrium, skylights and large windows keeps the interior areas well ventilated and illuminated with incoming natural light.
e)   The windmill installed by Kohinoor generates power offsite equivalent to 90% of total requirement and reducing the carbon
KOHINOOR
footprint. WOODGROVE
