Body image refers to how people see themselves.
Distorted body image (also called negative body image)
refers to an unrealistic view of how someone sees
their body.
Like eating disorders, it is seen most commonly in
women, but many men also suffer from the disorder.
Eating disorders includes: Anorexia nervosa, Bulimia nervosa,
Binge eating disorder. Eating disorder can affect teen’s health,
mood, relationship, and day to day functioning.

Most young men are prone to something called “muscle

dysmorphia” which they become unhealthy obsessed in having a
bigger muscle.

for community and
identity
Many teenagers are struggling to find a place in the society, wanting to be recognized
by their peers and accepted for what they are.

isolation

depression

disconnect
3. Time

4. Social and
Parental Pressure
Parental pressure leads to stress and anxiety. ... This often
causes parents to think they need to monitor their child's
progress; preferably by intruding into their social life and
peering over their shoulder while they study. Such high
expectations and pressure may also cause the child to suffer
blood pressure problems.
Added to this is Peer Pressure
Peer pressure is the direct influence on people by peers, or
the effect on an individual who is encouraged and wants to
follow their peers by changing their attitudes, values or
behaviors to conform to those of the influencing group or
individual
5. Mental and
Physical Health
Issues
What is mental Illness?

Mental illnesses are health conditions involving

changes in emotion, thinking or behavior (or a
combination of these). Mental illnesses are
associated with distress and/or problems
functioning in social, work or family activities.

Lack of Sleep

Depression and anxiety

6. Lack of Positive
Role models and
Heroes
Role models keep changing as we grow up, according to
the changes in our tastes and needs. Having role models
in our life is very important, and having good role models
is more important, as they influence what we do and
how we turn out eventually.
7. Drug and
Alcohol use
Teens may try a number of substances, including cigarettes,
alcohol, household chemicals (inhalants), prescription and over-
the-counter medicines, and illegal drugs. Teens use alcohol more
than any other substance. Marijuana is the illegal drug that
teens use most often.
8. On screen
Violence
When used responsibly Face book, Instagram, Twitter and other
social media platforms can be great ways for teens to connect with
the world, but when used irresponsibly, it can be problematic.
9. Bullying
Bullying behavior can be physical or verbal. Boys tend to use
physical intimidation or threats, regardless of the gender of
their victims. Bullying by girls is more often verbal, usually with
another girl as the target. Bullying has even been reported in
online chat rooms, through e-mail and on social networking
sites.
10. Risky Sexual
Activity and Behavior
Examples of high-risk sexual behavior include:
Unprotected intercourse without male or female condom use, except
in a long-term, single-partner (monogamous) relationship.
Unprotected mouth-to-genital contact, except in a long-term
monogamous relationship. Early sexual activity, especially before age
18.
