SIMILE
It is a comparison between two
seemingly unrelated elements by using
like or as to highlight a common quality
or characteristics both things share.
EXAMPLES
1. You were as brave as a lion.
2. They fought like cats and dogs.
3. He is as funny as a barrel of monkeys.
4. This house is as clean as a whistle.
5. My love is like a red rose.
2. METAPHOR

It makes a comparison between


two unrelated things by stating
one thing is the other thing.
EXAMPLES
1.Her eyes were diamonds.
2.He is a shining star.
3.The snow is a white blanket.
4.She is an early bird.
5.You are my sunshine
PERSONIFICATION
It is a special type of metaphor
where human actions or feelings
are ascribed to a non-human
thing.
EXAMPLES
1. “The sun smiled down on us.”
2. 'The story jumped off the page.”
3. “The light danced on the surface of the water.
4. The wind howled in the night.
5. The car complained as the key was roughly
turned in its ignition.
