A staffer of the popular pro-democracy eatery Lung Mun Cafe was attacked this morning, despite the cafe stating last week that it has "quit the yellow economic circle."
The 42-year-old victim, Wong, was doing preparation work for the diner's Tsim Sha Tsui outlet on Cameron Road when he was attacked by two men with glass bottles at around 6am.
Wong suffered injuries to his head, neck and arms, and his shirt was soaked with blood, according to photos the cafe posted on Facebook. He has been sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei for treatment.
The two attackers fled after the incident. Police arrived at the scene for investigation and the case has been classified as an assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Known for openly supporting pro-democracy protesters with discounted meals and donations to protest funds, Lung Mun Cafe's owner, Cheung Chun-kit, announced on June 30, before the national security law took effect, that the eatery will "quit the yellow economic circle."
