Subject: /usr/bin/build-simple-cdd on debian 12 generates image that fails installation
Date: Sun, 13 Aug 2023 01:36:53 -0400
Package: simple-cdd
Version: 0.6.9
Severity: normal
File: /usr/bin/build-simple-cdd

Dear Maintainer,

Runing build-simple-cdd with no options in an empty directory is generating an
iso file that fails to install.
The iso file fails while attempting to install the zstd package. The
installation log indicates that this package is required by another package,
but this package has no installation candidate and is not available.
Issue occurs when both the system where build-simple-cdd is run and the system
where installation is being attempted are (different) VMWare guests.

If that indeed fixes it, that sounds like a simple enough workaround
worth applying, thanks!

Will try and test this and get a fix uploaded. Will have to first upload
to unstable/sid, and then another upload to stable-proposed-updates to
get this fixed in bookworm.

Package: simple-cdd
Version: 0.6.9
Followup-For: Bug #1043571

Dear Maintainer,

I get the same issue with simple-cdd.

Once the ISO image is generated, it will fails at the beginning of the
installation process.

The log in the installer says :

no packages matching running kernel 6.1.0-15-amd64

I tried to run simple-cdd on the same kernel version mentionned in the
log but didn't change the outcome.

This worked well in previous debian release.
