Undocumented Students

Stanford treats undocumented students as US domestic students in the undergraduate admission process, assessing their applications under the same need-blind admission policy it uses for citizens of the United States. Stanford will use institutional funds to meet the full demonstrated financial need of undocumented students who are admitted.

The information on the Parent Contribution page applies to undocumented students and their families. Eligibility for scholarship funds will be determined based on individual family financial circumstances.

Student Responsibility for students with work authorization will be the same as for all other undergraduates.  Those without work authorization or outside awards to meet the standard student responsibility expectation will see their Stanford scholarship adjusted to cover that amount.

Financial aid application requirements and priority filing dates for undocumented students are the same as for US citizens and permanent residents, with the following exceptions:

• The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is not required for undocumented students.
• Undocumented students who are California residents should file the California Dream Act Application no later than March 2nd of the spring before enrollment.

All applicants for institutional funds must submit the CSS Profile. After completing the CSS Profile, you will be asked to provide tax documents via the IDOC system.
