Their website is broken because of an HTML syntax error.

Cases like this remind me that success is often "right place, right time." Notch is another good example of bad engineering going far.

This is an especially cynical and petty comment, and that's coming from someone who isn't exactly a glass is half full type of person.

As someone who's launched several ventures, this solves a big pain point and it is very apparent that a lot of thought went into putting this together.

There is room for improvement, sure, but to dismiss it so casually or attribute its success to dumb luck because of a syntax error really sounds jaded.

Gotta agree with ya. There's been times I've wanted a logo or something (mainly for just playing with an idea), and I really stink at artwork. Sometimes I can get something passable out of inkscape - but it is rare.

Not so much "bad engineering going far" as much as "engineering is less important than you think it is" unless you're a Tesla or Uber.

Yes that is what is known in the trade as a bug.

There's no excuse for an HTML syntax error to get to production. That's very telling of the quality control and continuous delivery systems in place. Seemingly they deployed a change to production without even running it.

Go back to your mom's basement. He built an actual company with actual nice revenue.

No need for the insult, regardless of what you're replying to, particularly when you're implying the parent comment is uncalled for.
