I'm a programmer, most familiar with C on Linux (both userland and the kernel) and Win32. I'll be happy to start a project from scratch, or to help support any old codebase. For a sample of my work please see rdrview [1], a small command line tool that found some success here on Hacker News; or [2], a naive filesystem implementation I've been working on.
My usual rate is 15 USD/hour, and I don't expect to be paid until I have something to deliver. For what it's worth, I have a background in math.
Thanks, but I want more work, and it's hard to get low-level jobs remotely. I wouldn't mind working on web development or whatever, but I have no experience there, so it's only natural to ask for less money.
It's the same from another side - it is hard to find low-level devs nowadays. Also, you might be missing some clients because many would think you provide mediocre service since you charge so low.
