As an employer / hiring manager yes, it's crazy. I dont want ANY of my candidates studying for my interviews. It will give me false positives.
Instead I want them to come as they are and show me their real skills.
I've always wondered how is it I Chemistry or biology fields? When you are interviewing for a position, do they ask you to balance a chem equation in the whiteboard or the optimal way to combine two carbon based constructs?

This contrary to the explicit advice that most Big companies give in preparation for interviews.
For example, my last interview round with Google included an email "Google Technical Interview Prep!" It's about 4 pages of things to study and have effectively memorized before the interview.
Similar prep material is given for Facebook and Amazon.
If you don't expect it, then make that clear to everyone around you, especially your interviewers
