Hello everyone! I’m the engineer responsible for Acorn’s development. There are a lot of challenges in farming that call for new kinds of automated vehicles, so we’ve created Acorn, a precision farming rover.
I was impressed by the way the 3D printing community lowered the price of 3D printers from $25k to $300 over the ten years following the expiration of key patents. I’m curious if that kind of open community development can be repeated, so we’ve open sourced the whole design. We’re going to build a community of interested users, hackers, builders and developers to help solve what I think are some very difficult problems.
