I've been kind of burned out/out of ideas for a long time. I just find myself listening to old podcasts I've already heard and opening and closing HN's front page. 20 times in a hour.
So I have a bit of a personal question for you all, to maybe help me (and perhaps others) have ideas on what to actually use my devices for.. what do you actually use your laptop/desktop for? Separately, what do you do with your phone? How do you determine when to use which?
Speaking about non-work hours. Work's usually pretty easy for me
This is because in the future I want to go back to university and don't want to have to spend time managing a number of machines in my own infrastructure at home.
I'm mostly keeping one machine for core services (nextcloud, mail, web). Maybe another one for very light testing.
Then I'm exploring new hobbies, like homebrewing (brewing stuff like beer and mead at home) and in that context I like to watch homebrewing videos on YouTube.
Tech gets a new light when you start to explore non-tech hobbies. So stuff like homebrewing, balcony gardening, amateur weather forecasting, baking, chess, board games, card games (turns out Bridge is quite a complex game), stuff like that. And of course exploring communities around such themes.
Hope this helps!
