Very impressive single-core performance is a little bit faster than the M1 Pro/Max.


It's good to see this, especially on the "Intel 7" process node. However, this is in a desktop form factor that can draw ridiculous amounts of power when needed too. In the Dave2D video [1], he shows how in a CPU limited benchmark like Cinebench his system drew 238W vs. 138W for AMD 5950X. It was more reasonable for his "gaming" category where the 5950X drew more power than the 12900K (121W vs. 110W). Also interesting how OEMs like Dell failed to spec the right cooling for this chip and throttle.

Absolutely. This will not be seen on a laptop with more than 30 seconds of battery life.
