Not really. Automattic does a great job with Wordpress and keeping services online, no judgment of them.
For a company as large and successful as Amazon to launch a product on a default blog template under their ___domain? That's like launching a product on Blogspot, with that 'circles and dots' theme or whatever: it looks unprofessional.
Agreed, at first I just chalked it up to this be a "rogue" blog by some members of the team, but this page is the only "official" page I can find on the product. The favicon is even Wordpress...
Except Amazon's CDN and hosting resources dwarfs wordpress.com
I mean they aren't even using an amazon subdomain or their own ___domain - it all looks like an afterthought someone had this week "oh yeah we should have a blog, where can I set one up in a few minutes".
Their CDN and hosting resources may dwarf WordPress.com, but WordPress.com's main competency is keeping high-traffic blogs up and running nicely. There's no reason for Amazon to move into the blog hosting business, especially when you can get a custom ___domain and design on WP.com.
