i am not sure about the "update lifespan ruining the phone's longevity" point. people never held the same standards for dumb phones with little to no software revisions.

i get that android is infested with malware. however, if people, even companies, can choose to stick with older versions of windows despite going out of support, regular folk who don't install random apps should have no issues with this.

also, not to disregard potential community rom support if this takes off.
