About me:
I'm currently a 9 YOE senior full stack engineer at a nonprofit education organization, but I'm looking for a change. The last few years I've provided the majority of my value on the Frontend in React, Node, Typescript, but I am very interested in opportunities that expect me to be more Full Stack and I'd be very motivated to get up to speed quickly with oneOf[Go, Python, Clojure, Rust], as I'd like to extend my breadth of knowledge.
While not having this isn't a deal breaker by any means, a "cherry on top" type fit would be an organization where I can provide value to you with my current bread and butters (React, JS, Typescript) while expecting me to get up to speed in a new backend language quickly.

The last few months I've worked as an Engineering Manager for a Solutions Engineering team working with a full stack of ad-analysis tools, client notification systems and process automation. Previous to managing the team I was a Solutions Engineer II for about a year. We work in the advertising technology space, primarily with Prebid and a popular browser extension for analysing advertising setups. I'm also involved in product design and development.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Corporate Finance and spent several years of in the construction industry before diving into programming, which had previously just been a hobby.
I am also the creator of FinMesh, a financial data API wrapper for Python.
Eager to learn and hungry to grow in the depth and breadth of my skills I'm looking for junior software developer positions. Something in fintech, constructions technology or advertising fits my background well but I'm open to all opportunities.
I'm a passionate software developer coming out of a bootcamp, but with a decent amount of experience writing code. My coding journey is over a decade long, attending the bootcamp more to brush up on skills more than anything.
I'm a very quick learner, and I am looking for an environment focused on that growth. I won't be making the same contributions as a seasoned developer on day 1, but with time I'll prove myself as an extremely valuable player. I have both the puzzle solving skills necessary and a strong set of communication skills from my background in teaching.
Aren't sure if I am up to snuff because of a lack of experience? Email me to set up an interview where I can showcase my problem solving skills. Thank you so much for your consideration!

Willing to relocate: yes, to any ___location in Africa, where i can get the necessary permission to live and work.
Technologies: Linux, Fullstack, System Administration.
Résumé/CV: on request (software development, CTO, mentoring, training, fluent in English and German)
Like a recent Ask HN: Recommend employers with positive social impact [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31518945], I am looking for similar work. I am a European software developer who has lived and worked on four continents. Now it's time to move on and so i am looking to relocate to Africa.
While i could find a job elsewhere i believe that the experience living in an area where my work is going to have an impact gives me a better understanding of the needs of the ___location i am serving. Whether it is through direct contact with clients and users or just by being part of a local community and learning about the reality of living there.
I have more than a decade of experience running a company, doing software development, support and training and mentoring adults and students, as well as working on educational projects, and i am willing to take on a mixture of roles as needed to support a project.
I am willing to consider a volunteer position if a visa can be arranged.
Software developer with a mechanical engineering degree here who has mostly worked in QA for Windows desktop applications and real-time data collection server applications. My role has mostly been that of a toolmaker for testing these applications. I am a naturally curious person and love learning new things, but am also not afraid of doing the grind of "shipping" a tool. If input from others is to be believed, I typically pick up concepts and onboard more quickly than most people.
I work with Python daily, and have for the past 6 years. I've designed and architected a few large pieces of tooling for my current team, including an RPC-like framework between Python and PowerShell.
I'd like to move into web development or a ___domain that combines my undergraduate degree with my current profession. While my resume lacks these technologies, that only means I've never been paid to work with them, not that I would completely lost working in a particular ___domain (maybe just slow to start).

Hello! I'm Chelsea, a software engineer interested in full stack and backend, fulltime, remote work! Lately I've been working mostly with JavaScript/TypeScript and React, but I have a mastery-based education which has enabled me to learn new languages and frameworks quickly. I love learning, tackling new challenges, collaborating with a team, and asking questions! My latest work is Test Lab, an open-source, self-hosted A/B test and feature flag platform, that you can read about here: https://testl-ab.github.io/
I would love the opportunity to chat with someone on your team about any opportunities that might be a good fit! Thank you for taking the time to read through this :D
Hi, I’m Cameron. I’ve been programming for my own projects for ~13 years, and professionally for four. I’m comfortable and experienced in teaching myself whatever I need to solve the problem in front of me, and a polyglot who’s tinkered with Python, Lua and a little Haskell and Racket in addition to the languages I’ve used professionally.
I previously worked as a backend developer for two and a half years on Bedful, a SaaS booking management system for campsites, and then for about six months as a full-stack developer at Hipcamp (Airbnb for camping) after that company was acquired.
I'm looking for an IC position working broadly on the backend, somewhere with interesting problems to solve and a culture that values potential and growth. Prefer working remotely and have experience collaborating across timezones from California to Canberra, but am open to hybrid with an office in London as well for the right opportunity.
Hello! I am a software engineer with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, more than 10 years of experience in the IT field and 10 professional certifications earned after a lot of study and hard work.
You can see several technologies in the above list but I personally prefer to work with anything related to the Rust Programming Language. Backend? Blockchain? Compilers? DevOps? Embedded? Mobile? I am totally onboard as long as you have a little bit of Rust involved.
Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada
Remote: Yes please
Willing to relocate: Unlikely, but not impossible, not immediately
Technologies: React, Typescript, Vue, react-testing-library, JavaScript, Python, CSS, Docker, a little Postgres, Jest, Jenkins
(mostly) Frontend Developer with ~8 y.o.e looking for a new role to start in June, fresh off a ~1 1/3 year term working on a web-based building management system, specifically migrating from Angular 1.x and React class components to React Hooks/Typescript/Redux. Learned a lot, but layoffs hit since commercial real estate is losing money. Worked with a small team who's size fluctuated between 5 and 9 as I followed the original German startup through an acquisition of a major U.S company.
Most of my experience is not greenfield—not that I'd shy away from anything—it's heavier on contributing to larger established complex codebases with immediate team sizes of 5-10. I'd like to build on my skills as a frontend engineer going forward, though I'm not strictly looking for an IC role and don't have strict technology preferences, I'm mainly interested in delivering value and solving some interesting problems along the way.
Remote: Yes (20 years experience, efficient, productive, and highly available)
Willing to relocate: For the right position; remote with occasional travel much preferred

I am a tech lead with focus on PERN/MERN stack and 10+ years of experience delivering software. I have experience as software architect and leading teams as fractional CTO. I have worked for clients all around the world in many different industries. I have delivered 20+ projects for solo founders, early stage startups, growing startups, digital agencies and big companies, such as Apple and Binance.
I'm a researcher in theoretical cosmology with extensive experience in coming up with theoretical models, making statistical forecasts, and working with numerical simulations. At the moment, I am working primarily on making better scientific software tools, as well as making forecasts for upcoming galaxy surveys (e.g. ESA's Euclid mission). I enjoy solving complex problems, building maintainable and customizable software, and automating tasks using the command-line. Currently on the lookout for new opportunities in a more applied setting, either in research (development of scientific software), or industry (backend or data analysis/engineering).
I have a PhD in operations research---essentially, I solve optimization problems. You can give me a real-world problem and I can translate it into a mathematical model that can be solved (often optimally) via integer programming, constraint programming, or other methods. I'm the father of four young children, so I'm looking for flexible/remote part-time work (I'm also open to contract work).
I'm currently working on a column generation-based daily fantasy sports (DFS) solver as a personal project. Taking as input the predictions/requirements of the user, this solver can generate optimal lineups for multi-entry tourneys. It is, as far as I'm aware, the only DFS solver that can generate provably optimal sets of lineups for multi-entry DFS tourneys.
I got ChatGPT to write a python script to scrape entries in this post and output it as a csv file. Download it here https://github.com/subbu/ask-hn-candidate-list-chatgpt/blob/... and open in it Excel/Numbers. Finally I got ChatGPT to output my conversation with it into markdown https://github.com/subbu/ask-hn-candidate-list-chatgpt. I can host this script on modal and run it in a cron job, but that's overkill. I'll probably run this again and update the candidates list. This whole thing took me ~30 min.
As a polyglot ICT professional for nearly 40 years, I've analysed datasets with billions of rows, investigated code libraries with 300k lines of code, built event websites that handled 4 million hits in four days, set-up satellite ground stations in outback Australia, built mapping tools, tracked vehicles and bicycles via GPS, reverse engineered software and hardware, built solutions to scan thousands of bar-codes, tracked livestock, trained staff, written hundreds of technical articles and developed code in dozens of languages on as many platforms, interviewed hundreds of people, produced and presented hundreds of live radio programmes, presented on stage and I've run a consulting company for two decades.
I've been an award winning team leader, have travelled, speak English and Dutch and I'm always curious. I prefer Open Source, am an active radio amateur and podcaster and love to troubleshoot, solve problems and discover and document how things work.

Hey all, excited to be here :)
I'm a British National with a love of Taiwan. I just got back from a 6 month language course in Taipei, and once I find a fully remote job that will let me work in Taiwan I will be moving back.
My main professional experience was working for JPMorgan Chase, where I worked on a full stack web app. The backend used Java, Spring Boot, Akka and GraphQl, deployed as a microservice architecture on Kubernetes. We also used Apache Kafka. The frontend used Angular. We had a full CI/CD pipeline and dev/test/prod namespaces, so I'm well accustomed to a CI/CD development style.
In my own time I mainly play around with Rust, doing projects related either to Language Learning (for example OCR), or Computer Graphics and Rendering.
I have experience working in a remote team, and I learn new technologies quickly, so I'm ready for any challenges. I don't want to work in anything Blockchain/Crypto related, and I am wary of Fintech.
Location: Currently in the UK, but want to be in Taiwan.
Remote: Remote only, unless job is based in Taiwan.
I'm Justin. I have 5 years of industry experience. I have a BSc. in mathematics and MSc. in computer science. My ending project work for my MSc. focussed on high-performance computing, involving C/C++, LLVM and Haskell.
I was most recently working on the automated market making of cryptocurrency options on a number of large options exchanges (Rust). Previous to that, I worked as a backend developer at a bank. I later developed a high-performance data analytics engine in Scala used for the insurance industry, and later worked on software for the optimisation of home energy usage (Haskell).
Having worked in a number of fields, I'm not too hard set on what I work on next, but have a preference to remain in the finance/trading field (crypto, betting or traditional finance). I am open to all interesting suggestions, and I am available to start work straight away.
Location: USA near water and/or mountains (CA/NY/CO/OR/WA/??)

I normally don't post things that sound so self-aggrandizing, but I suppose advertising myself as a commodity among those in the know is the place to do it:
I've been referred to as a 10x engineer by several elder developers with more experience than myself, I have led teams to great success in accomplishing tight deadline'd feature rollouts, in rewriting old webapps using modern best practices, and at each of my prior roles I have gone the extra mile (or several as the case may be) to drive productivity, increase code quality, and better team cohesion.
Hello! I'm a full-stack software developer seeking internships or entry-level positions that allow me to work across the stack.
At my last job in 2020, I was part of a team that developed a full-featured application for hotels with Angular and .NET, providing seamless services like room reservation, in-room dining, and activity booking. Between then and now, I joined a university and recently dropped out to focus on real-world experience.
On the side, I've been working on small Unity games, exploring Rust, and creating small projects like El Painto, a tool for matching paint colors between brands and RGB/HEX values.
I am a full stack developer and designer with experience of all aspects of building a product, both digital and physical. Before becoming a full time software developer I was a product design engineer in the BioTech industry. I previously built, and ran, a small business, and have experience of management and online marketing. I'm currently contracting, but looking at all opportunities. I am particularly interested in bridging the gap between highly technical products and usable design - my current contract is overhauling the front end for an antibody sequence and structure analysis workbench bioinformatics product used for drug discovery.
Full-stack Software Developer, Freelancer, and co-creator of the open source project, Sentinel. I'm ambitious to apply my skills and experiences towards solving problems and building great software. I'm currently pursuing a full time opportunity at a company that values their software engineers, working within a team, and encourages learning new things.

I was most recently working remotely as a software engineer with a focus on marketing tech. I worked on revamping & unifying the email system at my previous company by implementing a custom API wrapper in Ruby that uses Salesforce Marketing Cloud's Transactional and Triggered Send APIs to send both types of emails from their Ruby on Rails monolith. Leveraging that API wrapper, I created an email scheduler & three separate email systems that helped drive customer engagement. I also moved their build pipeline, built around a 3rd party contractor's in-house software, from Google Cloud Platform to CircleCI and automated their unit and snapshot tests.
Another major accomplishment of mine while working there was to help introduce React into the codebase. I was responsible for implementing most of the React pages, including 3 of the payment pages of the redesigned checkout flow, the profile and settings page, as well as the form component & its input components, which was the backbone to most of the forms.
On top of that, I was tasked to implement a service to send SMS to our customers, which was sent from an Apex class in Salesforce, and ran asynchronously using a job queue.
- Having worked with remote teams and clients, I've experience building modular and resilient systems and services for web-apps with Node-Express-React stack, mobile apps with React-Native.
- SaaS Product development where I architected and build the new platform for Reporting system from scratch, helping business to reduce costs at the scale of 200K USD. Built and provided composible front-end, back-end application level reusable modules for tests, UI, log-monitoring and much more.
Looking for a senior or flexible role where there is visibility and open conversations to solve business problems by building winning team combinations.

I’m a software engineer with over a decade of experience across a variety of domains and technologies. I can design and implement nearly every aspect of modern software systems, including web, mobile, and sdk clients, cloud-native and distributed systems, CI/CD orchestrators, big data processing pipelines, public and private APIs, automated testing suites, and developer tools.
For the stakeholder/owner/operator:
But you don’t really care about that, I imagine. You want to run a more efficient business– to uncover new opportunities, and to leverage your unique competitive advantages. That’s where I specialize, software as a means to an end. I work closely with stakeholders to deeply understand your business and identify areas where technology can provide powerful tools for efficiency and growth.
For the engineer looking for help:
You want to hire a solid engineer, with a proven track record, who can help you solve difficult problems. Ideally this engineer can design solutions that meet the demands of the business today, while considering the ever-evolving needs of the system tomorrow. It would be great if this person also seeks to understand the business, not just the software, so they can become an asset in stakeholder discussions and help define the future of the company. Oh, and hopefully you can find someone who is pleasant to work with– constructive, instructive, open to feedback, and fun.

I'm looking to join a company where I can ship software fast that will reach actual customers. I love simple technologies. I know companies love to flex all the tech they're using but IMO: the longer the list = the less impressed I become. Doing more with less = top-tier. My fav language is Python because it's concise and lets you easily manipulate data. A good language should not get in the way of your thinking.
Skillwise: I'm a generalist and can do most things. But I'm definitely not a UI designer. My background is in FinTech where I've built many trading systems. Though I'm interested in any kind of role where my skills would be a good fit. Cheers.
Hello HN, I am a Computer Science Graduate student at Indiana University and have more than five years of experience as a Software Engineer. Hey there, I'm a full stack developer with past experience in product management and UX/UI design. I'm looking for fullstack or backend roles. Let me know if you have any interesting opportunities!
As a sample of work — most recently I built an an open-source load-testing framework for real-time collaboration apps (get-edamame.com). It builds on top of K6, allows users deploy tests to their own AWS infrastructure (on Elastic Kubernetes Service) and simulates WebSocket and HTTP traffic from 200K+ virtual users.
Speaking: English, German, French, Farsi fluently / Chinese on an advanced conversational level
Also understanding basic Japanese(would probably get back to being fluent in a few months time) and Spanish
Remote: yes, preferred
Willing to relocate: mostly no, but negotiable
Technologies: Anything from integrated circuit testing, firmware reversing, video streaming, MLops, DevOps, to CTO for government healthcare institutions and smaller startups. AI and autonomous operations.
Back from a sabbatical taking care of my daughter. Seasoned full-stack engineer(including firmware and reverse engineering), also doing team management, aggressive product release strategy and cross-___domain problem-solving(I dived deep into the science of seismic activities to build a microseismic activity AI platform).
I have led teams of up to 20 healthcare, legal and engineering experts in developing innovative solutions for healthcare issues, while also building AI solutions and data processing pipelines for physical mines. I've also managed dozens of contracting companies for a 40 million "Building services engineering" construction project. As well as several life or death critical systems.
I'm cloud service and framework agnostic always choosing the one that is the most accessible, sensible and efficient for the team I work with and always learning new languages on the side.
I've also turned slow performing engineering teams into a high performance async teams across 4 time zones and always thinking about performance in the back of my mind when I make decisions.
I'm a PhD candidate in electrical engineering, graduating in Spring '23. I research reinforcement learning (RL) for control under disturbances/faults. My work is applied to drones and smart buildings. I develop high-performance python simulations for experiments, and maintain/deploy RL controllers in production on campus buildings. Previously I worked as an Applied Scientist Intern at AWS (predictive analytics/signal processing), and had research roles in start-ups and university labs.
I am a software engineer with a legal background. Recently got done working on a legal tech startup I cofounded, where we built a collaborative document editor for lawyers. I am currently contributing to open source in the legal tech space while looking for a software engineering job.
Preferred ___location is southern California, but I'm open to a wide variety of locations in the US depending on the job.

Hi, my name is Vasilis, and I am a graduating Master's student from the University of Pittsburgh. For my entire college career, I've constantly been seeking out new challenges in the world of academia. It's led me to meet tons of great people, work on some really cool projects, and even a publication, but now I think it's time to explore the world outside of academia.
If you are looking for someone to get invested in whatever interesting problems you're working on, I'd love to talk.
I'm keen to take on roles related to strategy and leadership in FOSS and Open Standards, for instance as part of a Open Source Program Office (OSPO). I've attained extensive experience in a variety of standards bodies, community software projects and leadership positions. As for technologies, I'm something of a programming polyglot, regularly using everything from C and Go to Clojure and Lisp. I primarily specialise in Functional Programming and secure, reproducible software package supply chains. Also available for consulting/contracts: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35781178. Always happy to chat about opportunities and to answer any questions!

I have a Bachelor's degree in computer science and 2 years of professional experience doing C/Linux systems engineering for one of the big adtech companies. I operate https://mtl.rocks and you can check out some of my projects: https://danso.ca/hacking/projects
I am interested in low-level code and compilers, but lately I've really been enjoying web programming, so I'm open to discovering new interests.
I've been out of the game for a while but I am looking for a new start to my career :^)
Junior developer approaching 3 full-time YoE, along with several internships, all in full-stack web development and embedded C/C++ roles. Recently working in the robotics/AV, and capital markets trading space. Very flexible, consider myself a generalist. Worked at startups and big companies, so I'm familiar with both.
I've been an early stage startup CTO for the past 10 years. I'm a hands on technologist & builder, as well as a seasoned tech lead. I'm currently building a GPT backed B2C tool, and have applied to YC; however, I'm also open to compelling opportunities. I'm looking for either founding engineer or head of engineering roles in early stage startups, and am open to cofounding if the idea is right. Not interested in NFT adjacent crypto, government contractors, healthtech or adtech.
I'm a software engineer who's early on in the career path, but being part of the pivotal moments in a growing startup working with small teams on many different projects taught me quite a lot about the job in a relatively short amount of time. All this work is open-source, so my GitHub speaks more than words alone!
My skills mostly stand out in GatsbyJS (and React by extension) but I also have a strong base in plain HTML and CSS which always comes in handy. Even outside of these, I'm confident in my ability to apply my existing knowledge to help accelerate learning new technologies and techniques.
I started designing and developing websites way back in 1997 on a Sega Saturn Netlink. Without a keyboard in hand, I hand-wrote my table based HTML markup in old notebooks to transcribe into CGI web editors utilizing an on-screen keyboard and controller, and of course, all while collaborating over IRC.
Luckily, times have changed and I now own both multiple PC's and keyboards. I have since worked on countless projects from interesting startups in various spaces, to enterprise level applications, as well as multiple personal and collaborative projects. I also founded Elemeno, a collective of talent functioning as a digital agency. You have most likely even seen some of my design work for large brand-names in the market.
Availability: We are a product consulting & development studio. Due to budget cuts, 2 of our large customers have paused their engagements. We do have more bandwidth in the coming months. We also provide fractional engineers for services.
In the last engagement, we managed both the front end (Storybook + React) & back end (Serverless). We follow a ticket-based branch strategy & have written unit test cases (TDD) as well.
I'm a really passionate engineer/leader with a mix of experience across insurance, payroll and SaaS. I've worked in large corps and startups, with a few freelancing stints along the way. I'm always hacking on my own stuff in the background and looking for interesting problems. Good at working with really high ambiguity and figuring things out.

Thanks for your consideration! I’m looking for my first paid job as a developer. My work experience has been in operations and support, with management roles here and there, but my knowledge and interests go way beyond that. I’ve been coding on side/personal projects for several years now, and I’m ready to join a team and apply my skills in the real world. I love the craft and I’m eager to learn, contribute, and do great things!
I'm looking to return to work after a sabbatical. I tend to describe myself as a "data generalist"—I can build a modern data stack on my own (if I need to!), with a data warehouse, ETL, Analytics Eng, ML and DS, streaming, etc. Also comfortable with backend SWE, not comfortable setting up infra on my own. I have five years of experience, on AWS.
My preference would be to work on a data-intensive or ML-intensive customer-facing product at a smaller company. But I'd be open to internal data platform or business intelligence work, in the right environment. No companies > 1000 headcount. Ideally role will involve ML and DS. Top priority is to work in an effective org with effective people.
Hi, I am a backend developer with more than two years of professional work experience. Managed and improved a serverless application using AWS lambdas, EC2, and SQS, resulting in a 10% reduction in the response time. Worked closely with customers to understand their requirements and deliver results.
Temporary/Fractional CTO, Senior Architect, Principal Engineer, Senior Product designer, Technical author or C-Suite generalist for Part time/Daily consulting
Context: Coming off almost a year sabbatical, I am starting a residential waste cooperative. Until that is full time however I am available for hourly or daily augmentation for Senior technical staff or leadership.
Not open to full time, cleared jobs or anything with crypto
I'm a pragmatic programmer with 10+ yrs experience. Worked extensively with React Native past couple years, and I also have built real time multiplayer games using Node.js, Javascript, and Unity. Full stack engineer with about 9 years of experience. I'm interested in solving hard problems and would love to help build creative and beautiful solutions. Machine learning, optimization, and games are three particular points of interest, but working with functional languages is always a plus.
I'm a fast learner and interested in pushing my boundaries. I'd love to be the least experienced person in the room - more opportunity for learning!
I'm self-taught and my degree is in philosophy, which I like to think leaves me in a good position to think creatively about problems and to communicate well.
I am a recent computational biophysics doctoral graduate with a broad background in STEM generally and a decent background in computation, ML, etc. My interests are equally as broad (read include outside of biophysics) so if you need someone highly adaptable I'm your ticket.
I'm a software engineer focused on crafting delightful web experiences.
I've been working for SaaS companies helping them prototype and scale their solutions for the last 4 years. Recently I've created a micro-SaaS studio focused on e-commerce.
The ideal environment for me is fast-paced with fascinating technical and business challenges.
Seeking opportunities in front-end and full-stack positions.
Hi! I’m looking for a position of a backend/full stack developer. I have more than 20 years of experience as software developer. Open to remote job opportunities.
Unfortunately, I recently got laid off. I had been working as a full stack engineer(remote) on a real-time collaborative web app that saw lots of users for about a year and now I am looking to ideally transition into an in-person role, as my outgoing (and I'd say charming) personality lends very well to that kind of environment, however I would still very much consider a remote/hybrid role. Thanks <3.

Who I am:
8 years at devops stuff, from hpc bare metal to cloud environments. Mainly working on the infra side, but creating platform stuff too. It doesn't matter the tech to be used, i love to learn new things and solve problems
My name is Chelsea Eiling and I am a full-time freelance Web and Mobile Product Designer (UI/UX) with experience in consumer products, B2B SaaS, e-commerce, and marketing design.
Remote: I could do fully remote only for short term contracts. I prefer hybrid environments or office-based positions
Willing to relocate: No
Technologies: cloud-native technologies
Résumé/CV: on request (please email)
Email: cloutechventures (at) gmail.com
I am a cloud solution architect (GCP specialist) with focus on design, development and management of compute, data storage and networking solutions. Fairly up to speed with on-prems, hybrid and multi-cloud.
I like to solve hard problems, speak at conferences, and bike with my kids in my free time. I would like to put my skills in Python, architecture, and team mentorship to good use while learning more about applied AI.
Unfortunately after shipping some awesome stuff at Discord my son developed Leukemia and required a stem cell transplant, after working during his medical treatment for a year and a half I was suffering from severe burnout and had to take some significant me time. I am now eager to get back to what I love, solving interesting problems.

iOS Developer nearing 5 years looking for work, willing to relocate. Interested in functional programming these days with Haskell, currently looking at Elm to write a frontend with, would be pretty interested in learning new stacks or languages for the right place. Check my GitHub to see what stuff I'm currently enjoying working on:
Technologies: Python & Java (many years each), Go (newest preferred), Rust (newb but admire), C (recent refresh, once daily/fav lang but avoid), web dev, SQL, git, Linux, Docker, cloud hosting, distributed systems, threading, performance & scalability, some ML (plain old math & queries, Bayesian models/inference, OLS regression, game actor behavior models, not neural nets)
decades of programming. solid computing system fundamentals. problem solving. brainstorming. prototyping. communication. technical team lead. software architect. SRE-ish. author of cheatsheet on Software Performance & Scalability. former Orbitz/Cheaptickets senior engineer on core tech. Tech research, due diligence and consulting for US State Department, to help bolster national/allied public APD defenses. Indie game engine & personal tool creator since childhood. built & ran small computer game biz years ago. Wrote, shipped & sold a zombie apocalypse sim a decade ago, directly to the public.
For a recent client I did systems programming R&D on mem alloc latency and SEGV resilience, in C for Linux/POSIX, delivering new code, benchmarks, a diagram and a report successfully demonstrating how to upgrade the performance and uptime of their near-RT revenue-sensitive ad-bidding backend
Lately I have 2 side projects in free time: building a sim (in Go) about dire threats to democracy & climate (along with possible fixes); and writing a book on performance & scalability (in public view in my GitHub).
Former NASA contractor with 30+ people contract lead, 2-50+ person project lead, board seat on 1500-2000 employee contacts, headed NASA working groups, delivered briefings to Shuttle and SLS management on vehicle risk, hire/fire, multi-layer .gov projects (Agency / Program / Project / Team interactions), Bid/Proposals. Honored eight times with performance awards including two agency level awards for reduction of real risk to the Space Shuttle vehicle.
Currently doing Android App dev with three releases and one of the top recent contributors to Android and OpenGL on StackExchange (top 4% SO this year) while also writing contract proposals for my own work to NASA, Navy, Army, USDA.

I am seeking a position as a mid or senior-level front-end engineer. I have 8+ years of experience working at various levels of responsibility as a front-end developer throughout my career. My previous work was as the creator of a thorough visualization of MMA matchups (https://mmabetsharp.com). The work encompassed a large breadth of skills including core front-end work, design, visualization, scraping, data structuring, as well as social media engagement via public discourse and other various channels.
I consider myself a generalist in the front-end space. I have a good knowledge of web technology fundamentals, but I also rather appreciate the higher level tools brought in by the React-era.
I have experience in ecommerce, both as a developer and administrator. I have worked on the development of inventory management tools for online clothing retailers. I have also used the Shopify platform to create a portal to sell woodworking products.
I have enough maturity as a developer to balance the cost of writing maintainable software with the need to write effective software quickly. I understand software is inherently complex, and if neglected, tends to devolve into something very difficult. I also understand businesses and companies, especially smaller ones, operate with limited resources, and that the ability to drive a product forwards can be essential.
I've been thinking about... The nature of complexity in software. How can we apply functional programming concepts to a ___domain that is largely event-driven and mobilized by effects? How can we reduce excessive "wiring" between components and increase modularity? How can we create a level of abstraction over system components that ensures logical consistency while avoiding excessive overhead? How do we balance the need for "correctness" (typing, tests, refactoring, experimentation) with the need to deliver a product within limited time and resource constraints?
Aside, I also have some experience with physical goods, having created and operated a small woodworking company for 3 years. During the time I received unsolicited praise for the top quality of my work. I apply the same ethic to my programming work:
Full time, part time, contract work .
Full-stack or either of those parts.
