I'd like to be able to attach a verifiable identity to my emails so that people know they are from me. Cryptographically this would be straightforward, but I'm struggling to find a digital authority to verify my identity. I don't want to use a commercial provider, but would like to use an authorative part of my normal life like a bank or a tax authority.

Any ideas?
