Manual typewriters are still made. Here's one.[1] It's not just a retro thing. Some high-security operations have gone back to typewriters.

That’s cool. Sad to see that their product page has typos — evidently due to lack of proofreading (as spellcheck isn’t available)

Very cool. The article talks about typewriter repair as a dying craft. This is no joke. In had a Hermes 3000 restored about 8 years ago, and even then there were only 2 shops in the LA area, and they charged an arm and a leg for the work. Totally worth it though.

Techno Elite by any chance?

No it was this one in HP. https://lataco.com/highland-park-typewriter-repair-shop-pack...

Not sure if they ever reopened somewhere else.

They are asking about the machine's typeface. Techno Elite is one of the Hermes 3000 available typefaces.

I had an 100+ year old Underwood restored at this shop. They did a great job, and it was a delight to have them walk me through both the history of my machine and the care they took in getting it working again

The death knell of gentrification, unable to hold back the unwashed masses of new Yorker the average soufilly guido retreats below Oregon (his family all moved to Gloucester County)

I was expecting an equivalent to the Chicago Typewriter, glad to see it isn’t so.
