Why Chinese spies are sending a chill through Silicon Valley (telegraph.co.uk)

This is a ridiculous take on espionage. “Technology” would be the lowest priority for collection at Google.

It's surface-level, but it isn't ridiculous. What do you suppose the implications are if you look past that?

Half of the cool Chinese startups are started by googlers. Not all of those started from zero.

While back a Chinese EV company was started by former Tesla engineers. It has "self driving" with the exact some bugs as the Tesla dito. Coincidence??

Let's be honest, you cannot have silicon valley without the Chinese (and Indian) engineers. Maybe we need to accept that 0.01% of them will engage in industrial espionage?

> you cannot have Silicon Valley…

Can you clarify what you mean by this?

Engineers who work 100 hour weeks at suppressed wages on tenuous visas.

Some decent commentary here: https://www.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/1giwi4s/why_chi...

We had a few days ago an article on a similar subject, but just the rise of China in terms of over all tech. Someone made a comment about how Zuckerberg must have taken notice that the field of AI is being pushed forward by both teams of developers and research publications being composed of entirely Sino-ethnic people. At the very least, the teams at Meta. I don’t have a dog in that race so to me it’s just a curiosity.
