For large enough X, if X% of the population were to be more kind and tolerant of each other, then that would "produce measurable improvements in the quality of life for the whole population". I'm sure there's some way to quantify this with graph theory (something something random graph, social network dynamics, threshold effect), but while it's technically true, it's not really something worth naming after yourself. And intuitively I suspect the X needed is a bit higher.

> one percent of a population practicing the Transcendental Meditation® technique would produce measurable improvements in the quality of life for the whole population

what utter crap. and I say that as a daily meditation practitioner with deep experience in both mantra and non-matra based meditation.

the ® alone should set off loud alarm bells in your neocortex.

I'm not sure if I buy it, but required number of people needed for this is so low that I'd encourage other people to take it up anyway. It's worth a shot. Any volunteers?

"research is really a gem of social science"

That part sounds true, although I don't think it means what the author thought it meant

aight, that's a certified bullcrap.

This is just stupid.

TM is pseudoscience and doesn't belong on HN
