pre-acquisition there were frequent Twitter outages. I remember one particular lengthy outage during my brief tenure as a moderator in the Twitter subreddit. I'll state the obvious but it's not entirely unexpected for complex systems to encounter failures.

Yes, it's certainly not unheard of; early Twitter featured the "failwhale" pretty regularly.


I'm not talking about Early Twitter though. I specifically bring up an outage in an era with competent organizational ops or SRE capacity.

2021 was well beyond the growing pains in the "failwhale" period.


There was a massive time period between the failwhale era and the acquisition. Like 15 years or a bit under?
