NASA just got the Orion spacecraft that will fly astronauts around the moon (space.com)

I'm a bit confused as to why something that could be achieved with a single Saturn V launch 60 years ago, now requires about 10 launches of a heavy lift vehicle with 100t LEO payload, plus an additional launch of another, completely different heavy lift vehicle, and an orbital rendezvous of two different manned vehicles?

As often in these times, may be the idea is built with & on frameworks, and, hence, carry much technical debt and that results up being such.
