Am I the only one that finds "cute" things so often at the top of HN bothersome? This is basically the nerdy equivalent of lolcats.

What's wrong with cute? Some of us occasionally need a break from pounding out code.

"I need a break from thinking about code. I'll go to a website that's mostly about code!" If you need a break, take it -- don't wait for someone to hand it to you.

Not really. I find that almost all the "fluff" stories on HN are fluff depending on how you look at them.

You could view this as a lesson waiting to be learned, an experiment pending its results... If FOSS were marketed in this manner, who's to say it wouldn't have a more "human" feel?

As opposed to distributing FOSS Party kits to encourage users to have FOSS Launch Date Parties? (ala Windows 7 Parties) Or having obviously stock photos of people all gathered around a computer screen with creepily huge smiles on their faces?

You're not the only one.

It reads a lot better than "Almost as good at Plug-n-Play as Windows 95" would have.

The sad thing about this comment is I can't link to it directly anywhere, because it's only this funny right after you read the README.

grumble grumble Very, very funny situational humor derailed by my inability to fork a repository using Vista in under 45 minutes...

Am I the only one that finds occasional "cute" things on HN to be so great?

You mean programmers are human sometimes. That does not compute on HN ;-)

You're not the only one.

Aw - that is an adorable story. :)
