Replace Social Security with private retirement investment
Social Security is grossly and continually mismanaged by politicians. Private enterprise offers a solution. In 1981 the Social Security Administration allowed municipalities to opt-out of the system. Galveston Texas took advantage this opportunity and
implemented a private plan--totally outside the scope of the federal government. The only way to "fix" Social Security is to eliminate the program. It must be phased out. My proposal for addressing this problem follows:
The federal government has
an obligation to provide benefits to all who have paid into the system
Those not yet entering the job market should have the opportunity to be responsible for their own retirement
Those currently working but not yet having reached retirement age
should have the choice as to whether to stay into the Social Security system, or to opt-out and invest their payroll taxes into a private program
The federal government's Social Security obligation would be completely eliminated over time.
