RUSPI´NUM

RUSPI´NUM (Ῥουσπῖνον, Strab. xvii. p.831; Ruspina, Auct. B. Afr. 6; Plin. Nat. 5.3; Peut. Tab.), a town of Africa Proper, where Caesar defeated Scipio, and which he afterwards made his position while waiting for reinforcements. It is probably the [p. 2.860]same place as the THERMAE of the Coast-describer (Stadiasm. § 114, ed. Müller), near the ruins of Leptis Parva.
