τὸ οὖν...ὑμνῆσαι. The infin. may be
explained (with Ast) as an ex. of the infin. “indignantis,” cp.
Ar. Nub. 819 τὸ Δία νομίζειν ὄντα
τηλικουτονί.
ἔρανον εἰσενεγκεῖν. Symbolum
dare: cp. Laws 915 E, 927 C
ὡς ἔρανον εἰσφέροντα ἑαυτῷ—the
only other instances of ἔρανος in Plato. For a

χαρίσασθαι, see Vahlen Op. Acad. II. 296. This passage is
echoed in Aristid. Or. t. I. p. 18.
