Hotchkiss, Benjamin Berkely 1826-1885

Inventor; born in Watertown, Conn., Oct. 11, 1826; became a machinist. His first invention was the Hotchkiss magazine gun, which was adopted by the United States government. He also invented the machine gun which is used in the rigging of vessels; and made improvements in heavy ordnance and projectiles. He died in Paris, France, Feb. 14, 1885.
