Frightened at the bare idea.

--The following general order, found on the battlefield of Manassas, shows that a "captain bold," from Maine, was awfully frightened at the bare supposition that the dreadful Southerners were near him. This Maine Captain had a presentiment of Manassas:

Head Qre. 3rd Brigade.

Camp Washburn, July 11th, 1861.
General Orders, No. 6

Capt. Noyes, of 5th Regiment Maine Volunteers, is hereby placed in arrest and confined to his quarters. Charge — cowardice and neglect of duty on the night of the 10th, deserting his company and post when he supposed himself in the face of the enemy.

By order of Col. Howard.
Alfred Mordical,
Lieut. and A. A. Adj't Gen.
