Patriotic girls.
--A number of little girls, animated by that spirit of patriotism and regard for the welfare of the soldiers which so distinguishes all of our people got up an impromptu Fair, yesterday on Main street, between 1st and 2d, selling grapes, fruit, and other articles, and thus collected $25, which they intend to use for the benefit of the sick soldiers here.
They will continue their labor of love to-day, and we bespeak for them an increased patronage.
The liberality of the people of
Richmond is worthy of all praise, and we believe has no parallel in history.
It has been a source of much gratification, and, we may add, of surprise, to every person who, like the present writer, has recently come to the city.
As for the little girls in question, they deserve to be immortalized for their patriotic impulses, kind hearts and willing hands.
