Debts due alien enemies.

--The following bill, relative to debts due alien enemies, has passed the Alabama Senate unanimously been twice read in the House, and referred to the judiciary committee:

Be it enacted &c., That until the Legislature shall otherwise provide, no suit or other proceeding shall be prosecuted to judgment in any court of this State, for any debt or money due, in whole or part, to an alien enemy of the Confederate States of America, or to any person who has been, is, or shall be engaged in actual hostility to said Confederate States; or who, in any manner, has given, is giving, or shall give aid and comfort to the enemy engaged in war with said Confederate States; nor shall any execution be issued upon any bond having the effect of a judgment, in whole or in part, in favor of any such alien enemy or person. And all executions upon any such judgment, decree or bond, now in the hands of any officer of this State for collection, shall be returned to the courts from which they issued "stayed by the operation of law."

And be it further enacted, that if any suit now pending in the courts of this State, in favor of any such alien enemy or person, shall be dismissed, no judgment shall be rendered, and no execution shall be issued against the security for costs in any such suit, if a citizen of this State, until the Legislature shall other wise provide.
