Wild coffee.

--The Covington (La.) Wonderer has the following remarks:

‘ The seed of this plant are being extensively gathered and used. It will puzzle a good judge to tell the difference between it and the genuine, if properly made. Persons who wish to experiment should be careful not to get the wild indigo instead of the coffee. It can be easily distinguished. The seed of the coffee is flat, while that of the indigo is long and round. There is sufficient in this parish, If gathered, to supply New Orleans, and can be gathered for about 12œ cents per lb. The many rumors of its being poison, causing blindness, &c., in our opinion is all moonshine; and if we had no other reason for predicating an opinion, the fact of the gathering of it by an eminent French physician of New Orleans, Dr. Dubourg, would be sufficient. We are told that he has not only pronounced it good, but healthy.
