Bomb Proof batteries.
We are informed that our water butteries in some important points are still without bomb-proof coverings, although attention has been called to the subject again and again, and am is opportunity afforded for the necessary preparation.
If disaster follows in any quarter the neglect of these preparations, it will certainly not be the fault of the each abused public press.
That land batteries ought to beat off steamships of war, is a proposition demonstrated by the whole Crimean cotest, and by the experiment at
Pensacola.
If they do not, it is because they are not properly constructed, and if they are not properly constructed, it is not for want of time, or because the attention of those in command has not been called to the subject.
