A negro, calling himself John Jackson, halling from Amherst county, having a horse in his possession, was arrested near this place May 24th. He had a certificate signed by W. W or H. Turner. The negro subsequently made his escape. The horse is yet in my possession. The owner, after proving property and paying charges, can take it away.
