How would they even know if people break this law?

Natty light traps

Most laws in the world have a rationale of using fear to prevent people from doing things, rather than actually hold them accountable.

I believe the person you are replying to was making a joke about the effectiveness of camouflage clothing.

The maker of some fitness equipment made in Scotland with camouflage cloth [1] recently mentioned on social media that he couldn't ship his products to some countries because of the camouflage pattern. He didn't name the countries, but I assume they were on this list.

I have had no trouble ordering his products from Japan.

funnily enough, every person i saw getting stopped by police and having their bag checked was wearing camo. it isn't illegal by any means but at least anecdotally it seems like police will profile you. have you noticed that too?

This list is heavy on the Caribbean, I wonder what makes them so jumpy about camouflage clothing?

Personally I think the lower the grip on power the more paranoia a government expresses. Paradoxically these prohibitions could reveal a level of freedom from government interference as there is probably low or inconsistent law enforcement.

For what it's worth, although it's "traditional" for rebels to wear camouflage clothing (and although I'm not sure we're still doing the Geneva Conventions anymore), all they really need uniform-wise is a fixed sign that clearly distinguishes them, at a distance, from civilians.

Rebel hack from 2003: don't wear camo. That trend was so over in 1999 anyhow.

In Nigeria, you run the risk of being assaulted by random army personnel for wearing anything remotely military looking e.g. laced up shin-high boots. They simply won't pass up an opportunity to relive anyone of anything of value if they can.

I'm guessing playing Fela Kuti's Zombie is still an instant beating?

Most of the sources don’t actually link to the relevant laws, or even the press releases. Seems like really lax standards?

I’ve never been to Jamaica but if I ever go I’m totally taking camo outfits to wear! Great tip!

I'm sure it's all good if you rock dreads too, PS/1 Model 2133.
