οἶς τίς ἂν κ.τ.λ. ‘Is there any one who, &c.’ For this formula, quibus nemo facile crediderit, see note on Aesch. Suppl. 636. (P.) πολὺ γὰρ μᾶλλον κ.τ.λ. Boeotus pretends that he is obliged to account for that name having been given him; and he says it was given ὕβρει καὶ ἐπηρείᾳ τινὶ, Or. 39 § 32, and resulted from some quarrel of his father with Plangon, whereas it was really the name of his uncle, Or. 39 § 32. The argument is the same, and very nearly also the words, as in Or. 39 § 23. [There, however, the inelegant reiteration of διὰ in the present passage, διενεχθῶσι...διαλλάττεσθαι...διὰ τοὺς...διὰ τὰς, is partly avoided by the use of καταλλάττεσθαι; and the hiatus in γυνὴ καὶ ἀνὴρ obviated by the transposition ἀνὴρ καὶ γυνή. A. Schaefer regards the sentence before us as inferior in rhythm and elegance to the parallel in the former speech. Dem. u. s. Zeit, III B 226. S.] πρὸς μισεῖν Cf. 37 § 49.
