The Legislature.
Bills were reported in the House of Delegates, yesterday, Incorporating the Citizens', and Farmers', and Mechanics' Insurance Companies, of
Richmond, and for encouraging manufacturers by limiting taxation in certain cases.
Mr. Collier presented the petition of citizens of
Petersburg, asking certain changes in the law regulating assemblages of free negroes.
The resolution for the encouragement of direct trade between
France and
Virginia was adopted by a unanimous vote.
A number of local bills were passed.
A select committee was appointed to amend the act passed 20th March, 1860, authorizing the Common Council of
Richmond to permit persons to construct railroads in the city of
Richmond.
The
House resolved to adjourn from to-day till Saturday.
