A Convention of Editors and Proprietors at the newspapers in the Confederate States.
--A call has been made by a large number of the newspapers published in
Tennessee and
Georgia for a Convention, to be held in
Atlanta, Ga., or some other central at an early day, ‘"to make better arrangements for procuring telegraphic news from all points, than exists at present."’ The signers to the card earnestly invite all the journals in the
Confederate States, which are interested in this and other matters of the greatest moment to the
South, to speak out upon this subject and make arrangements for a full representation of the press on the session.
Upon the subject the Charleston
Mercury says:
‘
It is high time for the journals of the
South to be making arrangements for a permanent extended, better organized, and, at the same time, more economical news agency.
