Our volunteers.

We rejoice to see that the spirit of re-enlisting is gaining strength every day among our gallant volunteers, and that in all probability the heroic veterans who have won so many glorious victories will be found, at the expiration of their present terms of enlistment, once more in mass in front of the enemy. It was only the monotony of routine and fancied security that ever rendered any other result possible. Let them have the opportunity of serving their country, and that is a stimulant to their patriotism which will prevent them from dreaming of laying down their arms till they see their homes secure and their country free. Now that the long monotony is broken, and that the dawn of decisive action is breaking, they will rejoice to give their war worn flag again to the breeze, and rush as one man to the rescue of the Republic.
