Militia exemptions.
--One of our contemporaries states that
Gov. Letcher has appointed a board, consisting of two Doctors, with authority to grant exemptions from service in the second class militia.
Their place of business is located in the private office of the Head of Police, in the second story of the City Hall, where, according to the authority quoted, "scores of old gentlemen, between the ages of 45 and 75, daily Postel and worry one another for precedence of entry. " No. doubt, if the Board continues its session any length of time, two-thirds of the second class militia will show good cause why they should be relieved of the onerous duty of carrying a musket and standing guard.
