Feeding the Yankees.

--When it is remembered that there are nearly, if not quite, 5,000 Yankees in prison here, some idea of the cost of keeping them may be arrived at when the ration for one day's support of each man is put down at half pound of meat and one pound of flour. The expense to the Government must be fully $2,500 per day. Other items will no doubt swell the amount considerably, for meat and bread are by no means the only articles of food they get. To feed this large mass of humanity the active exertions of John Warner, prison Commissary, and his Assistant, R. B. Wilson, are in requisition every hour of the day. The Yankees cost more than they are worth.
